Safely Record and Use Your Bitcoin Passphrase
Welcome to your ultimate guide for using the NovaSapien Passphrase Wallet. This page walks you through everything you need to know to properly fill out, store, and secure your passphrase card — the companion to your 12- or 24-word seed phrase.
You need both your seed phrase AND your passphrase to access your Bitcoin.
Watch this short video tutorial to learn:
A passphrase wallet is an added layer of protection on top of your standard BIP-39 seed phrase. This extra “13th/25th word” significantly increases your wallet’s security.
Even if someone gains access to your seed phrase, they cannot access your Bitcoin without the passphrase.
Refer to the physical card included in your NovaSapien kit and fill out the following:
A unique reference for this wallet
Useful if you're making duplicates stored in separate locations
Derived from your 12/24-word seed only
Verifies your final wallet structure
(e.g., m/84'/0'/0'/0) depending on your wallet type
Check whether it's lowercase with no spaces (recommended)
Write the passphrase here only if you're storing it
Confirm you’ve tested a full recovery
Use dice rolls and BIP-39 wordlist to generate your passphrase
Use all lowercase letters with no spaces for compatibility and security
Do NOT store your passphrase in the same location as your seed phrase
Store backup copies in secure, fireproof, and waterproof storage
Always perform a full recovery test before storing significant funds
The NovaSapien Passphrase Wallet is compatible with both physical and digital backups. We recommend printing and handwriting your information for long-term offline durability.
