This is a sought-after and discontinued hardware wallet that is air-gapped with open-source code. It supports multisig, passphrase wallets, PSBT signing, and encrypted backups. We do not recommend it for generating your seedphrases – we encourage self-generated entropy with die. Bitcoin only.
Passport Core never plugs into your computer, never touches Wi-Fi, and never pairs over Bluetooth. The only ways in or out are a camera reading QR codes and a microSD card. Every schematic and every line of firmware is published, so you’re not taking anyone’s word for it.
You create a transaction in your software wallet, send it across as a QR code, review and sign it offline, then send it back the same way. The USB-C port is wired for power only — no data line at all — so charging can never open a path onto the device.
Inside, a Microchip ATECC608-series secure element isolates your keys and lets you verify on first power-up that your unit is genuine. The body is a soft-touch shell over a die-cast zinc alloy core: compact, pocketable, with real weight to it. PIN, passphrase, and seed entry all happen on the device’s own keypad and screen. The battery is removable and standard phone format.
Compatable as a signing device with BlueWallet, Sparrow, Specter, Nunchuk, Electrum, BTCPay Server, Bitcoin Core via HWI, and more. It also can be used with Foundation’s Envoy app.
We recommend deep cold storage on physical backup only, with a hardware wallet used as a signing device for travel and everyday spending.
